Is Medical Travel Insured?

Dear readers,

I would like to write about a subject that is very important for medical patients and travelers going abroad: Insurance. Ever wondered if the insurance covers your care abroad? I bet that Google knows best. Insurance is a keyword search in combination on the MT.

There is good news. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina (BCBSSC) is probably the first US-based Blues plan to build a relationship with a recognized foreign-based hospital. And it's obvious first Blues plan in the nation to have a formal attachment to a hospital in Thailand. The plan is also expected to add as many as a dozen more hospitals to its international network over the coming years.

Companion Global Healthcare, Inc. a subsidiary of SC Blues, recently linked with a foreign first JCI accredited hospital, renowned Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.

BCBS of South Carolina before the negotiated discount rates with organizations such as Belton, TLC Vision, American Cosmetic Surgery Network and more due to the increasing number of plan members and Americans in general, that happens outside of their standard benefit plans for different things as health and wellness related.

According to Ruben born, marketing director at Bumrungrad, 150 in the hospital's 750 doctors are U.S. board-certified. According BCBSSC, Bumrungrad treats more close to half a million international patients each year the number of 80 000 Americans in 2006 with projections reaching 100 000 in 2008 and 2009. On the other hand, it remains much indistinguishable from those patients traveled to Thailand solely for medical care and how they were vacationing, or by other companies in the country and ended up being treated at Bumrungrad. Companion offers a good international network services.

This is why public reporting and transparency is so important in the years to come, so that open platforms like the start of feeding the correct information for passengers and other stakeholders in this industry for better and safer decisions.

Thank you for reading and talking with you soon.

Amin
